GOSHEN, Ind. -- Associate Professor of Communication at Otterbein College Kerry Strayer is the Roy H. Umble Master Class in Communication and Theater lecturer and will speak at Goshen College on March 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 28 of the Administration Building on "Becoming Visionary: Speaking from Your Heart, Leading from Your Passion."

Strayer received her bachelor's degree in history and speech/theater from Bluffton College, a master's degree in speech communication from the University of Cincinnati and a doctorate in speech communication from the University of Texas at Austin. In her doctoral program, Strayer concentrated on qualitative organizational communication and rhetorical criticism.

The Roy H. Umble Master Class in Communication and Theater was established in 1998 with gifts from Goshen College alumni who had benefited from the late Umble’s teaching and inspiration. Umble founded the communication and theater department. The Master Class program brings nationally known practitioners and experts in speech and theater to the Goshen College campus annually for events and activities that enrich and inspire students, faculty, the broader campus and local and church communities.
