Goshen College Afternoon Sabbatical heads to Stratford Oct. 17;
Sept. 1 deadline to sign-up

GOSHEN, Ind. – What do the adventures of a hunchback in a bell tower, a rebellious tomboy in high society Paris and an English Gentlewoman in the King of Siam's court have in common? They all have found their way into the performance schedule of this year’s Goshen College Afternoon Sabbatical Trip to the Stratford Theatre Festival from Oct. 17 to Oct. 19.

Along with a schedule of sightseeing and fine dining, participants in the trip will enjoy the musical Gigi and have the choice of seeing two of the following four plays – The King and I, Present Laughter, Hunchback of Notre Dameand Shakespeare's Love’s Labour’s Lost.

Stratford, Ontario, is known worldwide for its theatrical productions and charming atmosphere. Although Shakespearean drama is a main focus, a variety of theater offerings, along with the many shops and eating places within the village, make it an exciting place to visit.

Mary Ann Roth, chair of the Afternoon Sabbatical committee, and Janette Yoder, director of special events, will host the tour. Professor Emeritus of English Ervin Beck is well acquainted with the Stratford Festival and will provide interesting commentary and facts about all of the plays as presenter.

The package includes bus transportation, lodging and breakfast at the Queen’s Inn, dining at The Church Restaurant and a gourmet box picnic. The Queen’s Inn is a recently redecorated hotel with a 150-year tradition of hospitality, located within walking distance of Stratford’s fine stores, restaurants and three stages. The Church Restaurant is located a few blocks from Queen’s Inn and serves wonderful food in a unique setting of stained glass windows and beautiful architecture.

For more information or to register for the trip call the Goshen College Welcome Center at (574) 535-7566 or e-mail mailto:joannp@goshen.edu. The cost of the package is $450, including a $150 deposit required to reserve your place on the trip. Final payment of the full amount is due by Sept. 1. The trip is open to a maximum of 56 people, so reservations should be made as soon as possible.
