Goshen College Afternoon Sabbatical heads to Chicago's Oliver

GOSHEN, Ind. -- A Goshen College Afternoon Sabbatical trip to Chicago on Feb. 7 will take in the Broadway show Oliver!, the story of a poor orphan boy who is serendipitously reunited with his previously unknown wealthy grandfather.

Charles Dickens' greatest characters spring to life in Cameron Macintosh's production of Lionel Bart's Oliver! at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago. The stage version makes the touching story of Oliver Twist even more memorable.

About the show, The Denver Post said, "Oliver! the way it was meant to be seen. Audiences are being treated to Charles Dickens' epic on a scale they never before could have dreamed of. É I want some more, sir."

Cost for the show is $95, which covers a charter bus seat, a light sack lunch and tickets for the musical. The trip will be hosted by Janette Yoder, director of special events, and Mary Ann Roth, chair of the Afternoon Sabbatical committee. The Afternoon Sabbatical series was established 25 years ago by a group of persons who felt the community should have access to the wealth of knowledge and talent offered by Goshen College faculty members.

Limited seating is still available. For more information or to register for the trip, call the Goshen College Welcome Center at (574) 535-7566.

Upcoming Afternoon Sabbatical lectures include:
