Professional Licensure Disclosure

The Goshen College academic programs listed below are designed to prepare students for a career in a licensed profession upon completion of the program. A professional license is typically required for graduates of these programs to practice and/or gain employment in these fields. If you are considering applying to one of these programs and plan to be licensed outside of Indiana, please consider the following information regarding educational requirements for professional licensure in the U.S. states, commonwealths, and territories.

Education

The education programs at Goshen College are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) for the preparation of elementary and secondary school teachers. The elementary and secondary education programs prepare students for licensure as educators and are designed to meet the standards set by the Indiana Department of Education.

Elementary Education
Goshen College has determined that the elementary education curriculum meets the requirements for licensure in the following states and territories: IN, AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, DC, FL, GA, HI, ID, IL, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, MN, MS, MO, MT, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NY, NC, ND, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, WV, WI, WY, Puerto Rico.

Goshen College has determined that the elementary education curriculum does not meet the requirements for licensure in the following states and territories: AK, AR, IA, NE, OH, SD, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Virgin Islands.

Secondary Education
Goshen College has determined that all subject areas of the secondary education curriculum meet the requirements for licensure in the following states and territories: IN, GA, HI, ID, MD.

Goshen College has determined that some subject areas of the secondary education curriculum do not meet the requirements for licensure in the following states and territories: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, IL, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MA, MI, MN, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NY, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, WV, WI, WY, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Virgin Islands.

Some states have specific requirements beyond the basic academic conditions for education licensure, such as a different test, cut score, fee, or additional requirement. Nursing

The nursing programs at Goshen College are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the Indiana State Board of Nurses Registration and Nursing Education. The Goshen College Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program prepares students to sit for the national NCLEX-RN examination for licensure to become a Registered Nurse (RN). The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program/Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) track prepares students to be licensed as nurse practitioners. The RN-BSN does not lead to any type of licensure, as students are already licensed.

BSN
Goshen College has determined that the BSN curriculum meets the requirements for RN licensure in the following states and territories: AL, AK, AZ, AR, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, HI, ID, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MI, ME, MD, MA, MN, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NY, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WV, WI, WY.

Goshen College has determined that the BSN curriculum does not meet the requirements for RN licensure in the following states and territories: DC, IL, WA, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands.

MSN
Goshen College has determined that the MSN curriculum meets the requirements for APRN licensure in the following states and territories: AL, AK, AZ, AR, CA, CO, CT, DE, DC, FL, GA, HI, ID, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MI, ME, MD, MA, MN, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NY, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, WV, WI, WY, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands.

Goshen College has determined that the MSN curriculum  does not meet the requirements for APRN licensure in the following states and territories: American Samoa, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands.

Social Work

The BSW program at Goshen College has been continuously accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) for over 35 years. In Indiana and many other states, students graduating with a BSW from an accredited program can take the licensure exam towards becoming a Licensed Social Worker (LSW). Licensure requirements vary by state and most jurisdictions require you establish your eligibility before you register to take the test.

Goshen College has determined that the BSW curriculum meets the requirements for bachelors licensure in the following states and territories: AL, AK, AZ, AR, DE, DC, HI, ID, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, MN, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NJ, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WV, WI, WY, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Virgin Islands.

Some states and territories do not offer bachelors licensure, and therefore Goshen College has determined that the BSW curriculum does not lead to licensure in these states and territories: CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, NH, NY, PA, RI, VT, WA, American Samoa, Puerto Rico.

The MSW program at Goshen College prepares students for licensure in any U.S. state or territory.
