Fair Allocation with Budget Constraints

Junior Mathematics major Chaim Hodges worked with Professor David Housman on a Maple Scholars project trying to characterize envy-free allocations for two-player single-good allocation problems in which money can be exchanged by players who have budget constraints.

Maple Scholars is an eight-week summer program that gives students the opportunity to participate in independent research projects alongside Goshen College faculty of various disciplines.   Scholars keep each other informed of their progress in weekly seminars, and the program ends with a celebration involving a public poster session, presentations, and a dinner.  Chaim also presented his work during the 2011 Indiana Undergraduate Mathematics Research Conference held at Indiana University Bloomington and the 2011 MathFest held in Lexington, Kentucky.
