Accreditation and Faculty Presentations

In February 2013, the Teacher Education Department hosted the NCATE  Board of Examiners Team for national accreditation. The three day visit was successful with a favorable recommendation to the Board of Examiners. The department would like to extend its gratitude to the institution, local school districts, and stakeholders for participating and ensuring this event’s success.

The Teacher Education faculty presented at the 2012 Mennonite Schools Council conference on the topic of ‘Assessing Teacher Practice.’ This presentation critically analyzed the three pillars of teacher accountability: Student test scores, teacher practice assessments, and student evaluations of teachers. It provided information on the current critique of education and measuring student learning outcomes, as well as allowed for collaboration between higher education and Mennonite K-12 schools.
