Luckey’s Prairie Prescribed Burn

On Thursday, March 22, students worked with Assistant Professor Bill Minter to burn a section of Luckey’s Prairie at Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center.  Each  year 1/3 of the 21 acre prairie is burned as part of the management plan to encourage the establishment of native plants.

Environmental Science and Biology students participated as part of their Land Management class, which provides hands-on opportunities in restoration ecology.
