KIN Department Launches Sport Management Major

This year marked the beginning of the new sport management major, an interdisciplinary program between kinesiology, business and communication at Goshen College. The kinesiology and business departments offered sport management as a concentration or minor for more than 10 years, but as interest has grown, it was elevated to a major. “The sport industry, including the administrative, management, business and communication aspects are areas of interest for quite a few prospects we talked to in the recruiting process each year” said department chair Dr. Jewel Lehman.

This program focuses on student learning outcomes in domains named in the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation and requires courses in kinesiology, business and communication. Several transfer students entered the program right away, along with new first year students who began in Fall 2019. We are excited about the growth in our department and continued collaboration across campus!
