26th Annual Symposium Guest Speaker: Dr. Rebecca Hernandez

Talk Title: Research as Action for Change
Rebecca Hernandez serves as the Organizational Development and Racial Equity Director for Mennonite Central Committee. Rebecca previously served as associate provost and chief diversity officer at George Fox University from 2014-2023. Rebecca first connected with Goshen College when she accepted the job as the first director of Goshen College’s Center for Intercultural Teaching and Learning from 2008-14. Rebecca has also worked at Oregon Health and Science University as an assistant professor of nursing (2006-08) and as a research associate (2004-06).
She holds a doctorate in human development and family studies from Oregon State University (2005), a master’s degree in public administration from Portland State University (1996) and a bachelor’s degree in secondary education-social studies from Lakeland College (1989). Rebecca has also worked in several nonprofit organizations in Oregon focused on the health and well-being of Latino and other diverse communities. Rebecca lives in Goshen with her niece Jordan and loves spending time with her six grand nieces and nephews and her three dogs!
