91.1 The Globe Station Manager
The student station manager works with the WGCS general manager on the overall sound, operation and quality of the radio station. Additionally, the station manager will delegate and supervise the responsibilities of other student staff leaders and operators. The student station manager may help with content creation for Globe TV but their primary responsibilities lie with the radio station. The student station manager will attend the Globe Leadership Retreat and weekly staff meetings. Finally, the student station manager will coordinate The Globe’s entries in all state and local competitions.
The Globe News Director
The news director will report to the executive producer and the general manager. The primary responsibility for this position is to produce five Globe News Report episodes per semester. The news director will work with the student station manager to staff weekday drivetime news anchors on 91.1 The Globe. The news director will oversee and produce weekly packages for Globe News. Additionally, the news director will ensure deadlines are met and provide leadership to news producers. It will be the news department’s responsibility to publish all content to The Globe’s media outlets.
The Globe News Producer
The News Producer will report to the general manager, executive producer, student station manager and the news director. The news producer is responsible for supporting the news director by assisting in story content creation and development on The Globe Radio and Globe TV. This will involve working on stories with teams of students and help with producing a monthly studio news show. Also responsible for ensuring content is edited and published in a timely weekly manner with adherence to the quality standards of The Globe.
Responsibilities:
- Attend weekly Globe all-staff meeting (Monday 10 a.m.)
- Write and produce for 91 second news update
- Write and produce for weekly newscast
- Write and produce for Globe TV monthly news and feature show
- Host a minimum of one live and one voice-tracked radio shift
- Manage anchors
The Globe Program Director
The program director will report to the general manager, executive producer and student station manager. The program director is responsible for all music and music-related programming on The Globe. This includes helping with the selection and integration of music content into the day-to-day schedule. Working closely with the general manager and other leadership positions, the PD will acquire, create and promote all on-air content for Globe Radio & TV.
The Globe Sports Director
The sports director will report to the general manager, executive producer and student station manager. The sports director is responsible for coverage of Goshen College sports events and other sports content on Globe Radio and The Globe TV. The sports director will provide leadership to the sports staff which includes sports producers, sports anchors, sports announcers and board operators. The sports director will supervise the sports producers and with their help schedule live event broadcast coverage, weekday drive time sports anchors. Additionally, the sports director will oversee and produce weekly packages and manage the production of five Sports Corner episodes per semester.
The Globe Sports Producer
The Sports Producer will report to the General Manager, Executive Producer, Student Station Manager, and the Sports Director. The Sports Producer is responsible for supporting and assisting in the content creation of all sports events The Globe covers and other sports content on The Globe Radio and The Globe TV. This will involve working on stories with teams of student, and helping to produce a weekly sports show. The Sports Producer will also ensure assigned content is edited and published in a timely weekly manner with adherence to the quality standards of The Globe.
Responsibilities
- Attend weekly Globe all-staff meeting (Monday 10 a.m.)
- Recruit and manage board operators for all sporting events
- Write and produce for Maple Leaf Update
- Write and produce pregame and postgame content for live sports broadcasts
- Write and produce for Globe Sports Corner
- Write and produce for Sports R.O.P.E.
- Host a minimum of one live and one voice-tracked radio shift
The Globe PR Manager
The Globe Public Relations Manager will oversee the marketing and promotion of The Globe Radio, Globe TV and Globe Sports properties. The PR Manager will handle social media for The Globe, update the website, plan promotional events/campaigns and handle all external communication with The Globe’s community partners.
The candidate should have strong communication skills and be a proactive self-motivated individual. This type of position has tight deadlines and loose parameters. The job is not always confined to a specific work shift.
- Attend weekly Globe all-staff meeting (Monday 10 a.m.)
- Create weekly “hot sheet” for air talent
- Maintain a concert calendar for internal use by staff
- Oversee all social media platforms
- Coordinate external print and outdoor promotional content
- Populate and maintain events calendar for upcoming sports, music and local events
- Host a minimum of one live and one voice-tracked radio shift
Five Core Media Student Producer
FiveCore Media’s® Student Producer will be a student(s) from the Communication Department that has shown leadership, commitment and initiative. This student(s) will assist and report to the FiveCore Media® General Manager. The Student Producer(s) will perform a variety of tasks as it pertains to FiveCore Media’s® contracted projects. This student(s) will coordinate and direct field production activities, assist in editing and post-production process and serve the general operational needs of FiveCore Media®. The Student Producer position is the highest leadership position at FiveCore Media for students. Strong technical and leadership skills are needed to coordinate student crews and manage clients in a professional environment.
Five Core Media Assistant Producer
FiveCore Media’s® Assistant Producer will be a student(s) from the Communication Department that has shown leadership, commitment and initiative. This student(s) will assist and report to the FiveCore Media® General Manager. The assistant producer(s) will perform a variety of tasks as it pertains to FiveCore Media’s® contracted projects. This student(s) will assist editing and post-production process and serve the general operational needs of FiveCore Media®. Strong technical and leadership skills are desired to work on client projects in a professional environment.
Record Executive Editor
The executive editor is responsible for managing the staff and overseeing the content of The Record. The executive editor selects staff members, delegates responsibilities and supervises the print and online operations. The executive editor meets weekly with the faculty adviser to discuss and evaluate editorial content, including article assignments. The executive editor serves for one semester.
The Record Managing Editor for Digital Media
The managing editor for digital media will report to the executive editor of The Record. The managing editor will be responsible for posting articles and other content on The Record’s website and for maintaining The Record’s social media accounts.
