Would you like to manage a stage, design a set or make your debut as an actor? As a theater major at Goshen College, performing arts students earn their fair share of time in the spotlight and backstage. You will participate in full-length mainstage shows, one-act plays, dance performances, and musical theater performances—all hands-on opportunities to apply technical and artistic skills learned during class. Furthermore, by the time you graduate, you will have created your own senior theater production!
Goshen College is one of the top undergraduate theater programs in Indiana, offering:
Theater at Goshen College is about so much more than just entertainment. It is about a chance to inspire, think deeply about the human experience, and learn how influential art can be.
As a theater major, you will explore acting, design, dramatic literature, playwriting, voice, and movement, in addition to studying theater history and theory. GC’s theatre major program emphasizes a multidisciplinary education so that you can augment your theatrical knowledge and skills with courses in art, music, communication, history, English, and foreign languages.
As with other majors at GC, we believe in a hands-on, experiential learning approach to theater. So, in addition to taking classes, theater students also get a wealth of real-world experiences.
Theater majors often find the skills they learn and develop through performing useful in any career. Theater training can help you hone your communication skills, problem-solving abilities, creative thinking, and more.
After college, performing arts graduates can expect to do what GC alumni are doing now—working coast to coast as industry professionals in theaters, arts management, touring companies, education, stage management, video/film production, or pursuing fine arts degrees in graduate school.
