Whether you want to be a director, producer, cinematographer, or editor, Goshen College’s film production program is designed to immerse you in hands-on experience and preparation for the cinematic arts, media production, and television production. We offer classes that include all phases of visual storytelling, such as scriptwriting, producing, production design, production assistant, directing, cinematography, editing, visual effects, and motion graphics.
The Goshen College filmmaking program will immerse you in hands-on learning and preparing for the film and television business. You will have opportunities to work on actual student films, group projects, and feature films from start to finish, to gain knowledge and hone your skill set in a state-of-the-art lab. Additionally, you will get to know the television and motion pictures community in Goshen and Elkhart County.
Learn From Experienced Professionals in a Hands-On Setting
Our film production program is built on two unique opportunities with experienced program faculty members: FiveCore Media and the Columbia College Chicago semester in LA. FiveCore Media, our full-service professional video production company on campus, gives students real-world experience shooting, editing, directing and producing projects for paying clients. Our students also spend a semester in the heart of the film industry at the Sunset Las Palmas Studios in Hollywood. Students study film techniques and theory in class and on the set, all while completing an internship with a national film, television, or video company.
Turn a Passion Into a Career You Will Love
No matter their future goals, Goshen College’s film production major will give you the skills and experience you need to pursue careers in the entertainment industry. As a film production graduate,
Work for companies like Pixar, Dreamworks, Sony Pictures Animation, and The Walt Disney Company
Find success as an independent filmmaker, working on everything from short films to feature-length movies
Go on to career options in education, using your knowledge and skills to teach the next generation of interactive media professionals
In addition, many of our students take unique classes on documentary filmmaking in other countries, which have included such locations as Kenya and Japan. These interterm study-travel courses allow students to explore film production in new and exciting cultures.
