Biographies

pax duo

pax duo is a dynamic new percussion project created by Tristan Swihart and Micah Detweiler. Based in Goshen, IN and Madison, WI. pax duo aims to break preconceptions of contemporary percussion through collaboration and new creation of genre bending works.

Tristan and Micah first met in the fall of 2012 when Micah began working with the Northridge Raider Marching Band in Middlebury, IN where Tristan was a student. The marching band show that year was entitled Et in Terra Pax. Since then they have gone from student and teacher to close friends and colleagues.

pax duo are Malletech performing artists and are proud to endorse their products.

Fisher/Lau Project

Fisher/Lau Project advances contemporary percussion music through the originality and flair that they bring to their performances. Dr. Abby Fisher and Dr. Matthew Lau founded Fisher/Lau Project in 2014 during their doctoral studies at Stony Brook University. Best friends, the pair quickly realized that they were a mighty musical match!

Fisher/Lau Project cultivates an international presence through engagements such as the Transplanted Roots Percussion Research Symposium 2017(Brisbane, Australia), 2022 (San Diego, CA), Percussive Arts Society International Convention (Indianapolis, USA), and Ensemble Mise-En Curator Series (Brooklyn, USA). F/L Project promotes the contemporary and avant garde aesthetic with clarity and approachability at concerts, engagement at masterclasses, and through their  interactive social media presence. With repertoire extending from European master Philippe Manoury to esteemed compositional voices of today including Alex Temple and Jordan Munson, F/L Project works to perform music from a diverse range of composers.

3D Percussion

YoungKyoung Lee, Sammy DeAngelis, and Emma Gierszal met at the Eastman School of Music but became 3D Percussion over a common vision of learning from our audiences, collaborators, and each other and enriching lives with our resulting music. The mission of 3D Percussion is to connect with our ever-growing community by commissioning new works, curating creative concerts, and contributing resources to the percussion community.

3D Percussion aims to develop creative artistic experiences with a wide range of composers. In the summer of 2023, the ensemble led a consortium for Austin Keck’s Evanescence and recorded the first video playing alongside the composer. Since then, 3D has performed across the country with highlights in Chicago, PASIC in Indianapolis, and a Music For All event in St. Petersburg, Florida. 3D is currently commissioning a full concert program for the 24-25 season with 5 new composers.

Ultimately, 3D Percussion aims to explore every aspect of percussion performance and share it with audiences and students. With repertoire ranging from Korean drumming to theater percussion to the cutting edge of contemporary percussion chamber music, there are just as likely to be balloons on stage as marimbas. We challenge audiences to leave without hearing both something familiar and something new!
