Goshen
Major: Peace, Justice and Conflict Studies
Why did you choose Goshen?
I chose Goshen College because of the experience I had on Study-Service Theology Term (SSTT) in 2017, the summer after my junior year of high school. I felt like the professors and students I met on that trip were a good group of people to be a part of and wanted more of that community at GC.
Why did you choose your major?
I chose peace, justice and conflict studies as my major because I think it’s a unique mix of religion, sociology and peace studies. It will be a great undergraduate degree that sets me up well to pursue many different graduate options.
What career are you interested in pursuing?
I’m interested in going to law school with hopes to study immigration law, maybe go to seminary for a degree in peacebuilding and theology, or maybe getting a masters in social work. I don’t have many concrete career plans at this stage but I do know that I’m interested in helping people find themselves on the fringes of our society.
What is a valuable experience that you have had at Goshen?
A memorable experience would be the choir tour I went on my first-year with the chamber choir and chamber orchestra to the southwestern United States. I started the trip not super familiar with my fellow choir members, reading a book in the back of the bus, and quickly got folded into endless card games with new friends. We also performed many fulfilling and beautiful concerts throughout. Easily one of the best uses of a spring break.
