Kalen Guynes ’23
Elkhart, Indiana
Major: Environmental & Marine Science
Why did you choose Goshen?
I chose Goshen because it was close to home. It has enabled me to focus on my studies while remaining close to my son and my family.
Why did you choose your major?
I chose Environmental & Marine Science because I have always had a fascination with the natural world. Increasing our knowledge of the world around us helps to create more of a connection to the things around us and that to me creates a better quality of life.
What career are you interested in pursuing?
The career I am focused on at this point is finding a job with the DNR or the National Forestry Service after graduation.
What is a valuable experience you have had at Goshen?
The most valuable experience I have had at Goshen was having the opportunity to become a part of a new community. Coming back to college allowed me to step outside of the box, so to speak. Being a part of this community allowed me to get to know people I would happily call friends and even family. The most valuable experience to me was the simple knowledge that no matter what background you come from there is a place for everyone at Goshen and everyone wants to see you succeed.
