I was a junior in high school when I was chosen to run for Mexican Independence queen. In order to win the title I had to sell tickets to people in my community to support scholarships for Hispanic college students in my community. I came in second place with the title of princess and raised over $5,000. I felt very proud of what I had done and about being able to represent Mexico in the small city of South Bend.
Hispanics are humans too, we’re not here to act as anything else. We have families, pets, and goals in life. We love, care, feel, and matter – just like any person of any race.
