ASL Interpreting Scholarships
Savanick Scholarship
Reuben Savanick ’73 was a devout Christian, avid supporter of Deaf Ministries, friend of the Deaf community, and loving husband and father who died unexpectedly in April 2005 at the age of 53. The Reuben H. Savanick Memorial Scholarship Fund was established after his death in 2005 with generous gifts from his family and friends. It is the goal of this scholarship to recognize, encourage and financially assist Deaf or hearing students enrolled at Goshen College who are pursuing professional careers that will support and/or serve the Deaf community.
The number and the amount of the awards each year are to be determined by the Financial Aid office based on a variety of factors. All recipients of the scholarship must meet the following criteria:
- Have successfully completed their first year at Goshen College
- Have chosen to major in ASL Interpreting at GC
- Have had successful past involvement in high school, community & church activities
- Have some demonstrated financial need
