8:15 – 9 a.m. — NSO Check-In | Church-Chapel, Fellowship Hall
Pick up your NSO folder and name tag and confirm your GC login information. Continental breakfast provided.
9 a.m. — Welcome | Church-Chapel
The Office of Orientation, Transition, and Retention (OTR) will provide an overview of the day and what to expect from attending New Student Orientation.
9:15 a.m. — Writing Assessment (students) | Church-Chapel, Fellowship Hall
Students will respond to a short writing prompt to determine placement for Academic Voice for students taking this class.
9:15 a.m. — Paying for College: What you need to know (parents and families) | Church-Chapel
Parents and families will meet with the Accounting Office, Financial Aid Office, and Student Success Center to learn more about FERPA, payment plans, and important deadlines. Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the financial processes at Goshen College.
10 a.m. — Rotating Sessions – Block 1 | Various locations
Students will be divided into three groups and rotate between sessions. Parents & family members can participate in additional sessions.
Advising | Church-Chapel, Gathering Rooms, CC 141-144
Hosted by the Registrar’s Office
Students will begin their advising experience by reviewing their preliminary schedule, meeting with CORE 100/ICC professors, and understanding what academic records are needed (AP/IB/dual credits) before the start of school.
Becoming College Ready: Successful Transitions | Church-Chapel, Koinonia Rooms, CC 300-301
Hosted by the Student Success Team
The Student Success Team will help students and families understand what it means to thrive at the college level and provide tips on navigating the first-year experience. They will also share the importance of building a support network and how to connect with the campus community and its resources.
ALEKS Assessment | Union, UN 004 and Newcomer, NC 12
Hosted by the Goshen College Core
New students will complete the online ALEKS mathematics placement assessment to determine the best course for meeting the Quantitative Literacy requirement. NOTE: Students with high enough test scores in an AP/IB Math exam or a grade of a B- or higher in a dual credit math course will meet the Quantitative Literacy requirement and do not need to complete the ALEKS assessment unless they enroll in math courses as part of their major requirements.
11:15 a.m. — Rotating Sessions – Block 2 | Various locations
Everyone will transition to Block 2 sessions.
12:30 p.m. — Lunch | Union Dining
Complimentary lunch provided. Students, parents, and family members will have an opportunity to eat lunch together.
1:15 p.m. — Rotating Sessions – Block 3 | Various Locations
The final rotation will continue after lunch with the Block 3 sessions.
2:30 p.m. — Closing | Church-Chapel, Fellowship Hall
Learn more about the next steps for the summer and what to expect during Welcome Week in August. Campus departments will be available afterward for final questions.
2:45 p.m. — Information Fair | Church-Chapel, Fellowship Hall
Campus departments will be available at the Information Fair to answer questions. Students will complete a checklist and turn it in before leaving.

4 | Campus Housing: submit your Student Life Residence Form and Emergency Contact Form

6 | Academic Advising: meet with an academic advisor for schedule changes or questions
7 | Athletic Department: confirm next steps for eligibility
8 | Campus Safety: ask about parking passes
9 | Academic Success Center (ASC) & Accessibility Services: information on resources
10 | Career Networks: information on campus resources and the GC job bank
11 | Admissions Office: pick up your deposit sweatshirt and sign up for a campus tour
12 | ITS Media: take your ID picture or pick up your ID card if you submitted your photo online
