Following an early morning starting in Indianapolis, we set out on a long, 9.5 hour drive to Meridian, MS, where Jubilee Mennonite Church was eagerly awaiting our music. After having experienced wonderful Southern hospitality during both of our meal stops en route, we were greeted in Meridian with a wonderful potluck-style soup supper with more bread and desserts than we could possibly consume. Having fellowshipped with the Jubilee parishioners over dinner, we suited up for a rousing, intimate concert in their sanctuary with an audience of most of the congregation.
The foyer and gym of the church were both well attended after the concert, with members of the Chorus playing basketball with young members of the Jubilee congregation in the gym, and concert-goers lingering for terrific conversation in the foyer for quite some time afterwards. We ended the day with game-playing and conversation in the heart of the woods at Pine Lake Christian Camp, not far from Meridian. As we look toward tomorrow, we eagerly anticipate the final southward leg of our journey, culminating with a concert for the GC President’s Circle in the heart of New Orleans!
