We were excited to discover that our previous day’s concert made the front page of the Meridian Star newspaper. Thanks to Joel Beachy ’03 from Jubilee Mennonite for promoting our concert. We really enjoyed our time at Jubilee.
After a nice evening at Pine Lake Fellowship Camp we made the three hour trek in time to sing for President’s Circle guests visiting New Orleans.
After that we had the privilege of meeting with Don Marquis, GC Class of 1959. Don has lived in New Orleans since 1962 and he is a jazz historian and the former curator of the New Orleans Jazz Museum. He regaled us with stories of meeting many jazz greats, including his favorite, Louis Armstrong. After his presentation, the chorus sang “Teach Me Thy Truth” and the Alma Mater. We then hit the town and spread out for dinner. We’re finishing off the evening together back at our lodging, watching a movie.
