This is the first of many student perspectives we’ll be sharing this term. This first post is written by Marcos Castillo:
After a long, informative ethnobotanical tour in the jungle bordering the town of Puyo, I took advantage of the free time to explore the town’s market as well as climb a sightseeing tower. While on top, I paused to admire the sun’s long rays as it began to set on this Amazonian town. I couldn’t help but smile with the sort of disbelief that I was in such a beautiful place. The potential of native medicines and the beauty of this town were both mesmerizing, exciting me for what was yet to come.
