Three Goshen College pitchers combined to throw a one-hitter as the Leafs cruised by a local team from Santa Teresa 7-0 this past Sunday.
Starting pitcher, James Stricker did his part by tossing four innings of no-hit ball. Stricker got off to a quick start by striking out the first five batters he faced and finished his outing with six K’s and two walks. Michael Walker was then called on in relief and allowed Santa Teresa’s only hit in the seventh inning of the eight inning contest. Walker finished his three innings on the mound with four strikeouts and no walks. Blake Collins finished the one-hitter by finishing the game in the eighth by facing just three batters.
The Leafs found their stride offensively quickly and didn’t let up as they totaled 11 hits. Austin Rook led the attack by going 3-3 on the day. Chandler Ingle added a pair of hits, while Ryan Hartig, Brad Stoltzfus, Noah Shail, Cody McCoy, Clinton Stroble, Derrick Oley and Ike Lehman added a hit apiece.
The Leafs stay a perfect 4-0 on the trip with only two games remaining this week on Thursday and Saturday.
