My morning started out waking up in my host family’ s house in West Philadelphia and walking down the wet streets to our tour bus. After the long previous day, I was personally looking forward to the fact that we only had one concert today, and looked forward to some time to relax on the bus on the drive down to Harrisonburg, VA. After loading up the tour bus and for a last time admiring the beautiful city of Philadelphia, we parted and headed down south.
We got a little bit behind schedule thanks to some unruly traffic jams on the way, so we managed a quick lunch break in West Virginia (and sang for the hard working employees of Arbys) and rolled into Harrisonburg. We were all very excited to be on the campus of Eastern Mennonite University (and expressed no such rivalry what-so-ever), and had some time to relax, visit with friends on campus, and play around for a bit in the facilities provided. However, work was to be done; so we once again got on the bus and went to Park View Mennonite, which turned out to be really close to the campus. We had an amazing supper there, and got ready for our concert in the evening.
Even though many of us were tired, weary, and were quite concerned about the quality of our voices, we still managed to give (in my opinion), a fantastic and moving performance for the wonderful people of Park View. The building itself was an amazing set up for acoustics, and we probably gave one of our best sounding performances overall. Once again, the group morale seems to be in high spirits, and it turned out to be a pretty great day. Right now, me and Isaac are relaxing at our host family’s house and let’s just say, we’re going to be sleeping in style tonight! We’re going to be heading to Eastern Mennonite High School in the morning, and hopefully we can maintain that energy for the students there.
