Our first day of tour was filled with mostly travel. We took off at 9am from the Music Center parking lot in Goshen, and I promptly fell asleep for most of the morning as we drove across Indiana and Western Ohio. We stopped at a rest area for lunch in North Central Ohio, where we feasted on boxed lunches from the Rott. We took the opportunity to stretch our legs, and played some rugby and frisbee. Frisbee was definitely a challenge as wind gusts reached 300-400 mph. Or something along those lines. (It was very windy.) In the afternoon we passed time on the bus by watching the movie Cool Runnings. We arrived in Buffalo and showed up slightly early for our reservation at Anchor Bar which is the birthplace of buffalo wings. There, we ordered an obscene amount of food, including over 200 chicken wings, about 10 salads and various other pasta and shrimp dishes. It was truly ridiculous. And delicious. Based on our best estimate, the bus was 25-35 pounds heavier than when we had left it about 2 hours before. We drove the last 40 minutes to Clarence Center Akron Mennonite Church and watched an episode of Mr. Bean. We met our host families in the church. I just finished a large root beer float which was delicious but definitely a challenge to finish after our dinner. We are looking forward to getting a chance to sing tomorrow morning in worship. I don’t know what proper etiquette is for ending blog posts.
