Scripture: Psalm 63:1-8 (NRSV)
DEVOTIONAL:
Wow! What a way to live! David is committed, and it makes me feel kind of guilty. I try to think back and remember if there was ever a time that I longed for God in such a deep way. I can think of times I called to him in distress, but the way David thirsts and longs for God seems much more dedicated.
This psalm truly brings out how each and every one of us should love our God: with all our heart, all our soul and all our mind. God is with us wherever we are in life. He is always watching and sometimes he is even intervening. He is with David in the desert, and will be with you wherever you are. God’s love for us is never ending, and yet, we don’t always give him the same love in return. David sets a good example of how we should do this. We should love him with everything that we have and everything that we are. Seek for God earnestly, let your lips glorify him, praise him forever, and say with David proudly; “O God, you are my God.”
Scripture: Psalm 63:1-8 (NRSV)
O God, you are my God, I seek you, my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory.
3Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.
4So I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands and call on your name.
5My soul is satisfied as with a rich feast, and my mouth praises you with joyful lips
6when I think of you on my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
7for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy.
8My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
