This week’s theme: Restore us, O God! We see.
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it.
John 1:5 (NLT)
Light helps us to see clearer than when we try to see or do things in the dark. A couple of weeks ago we remodeled our kitchen. A part of the remodel was replacing our countertops, which meant getting a brand new sink. The old sink was taken to a sacred place to rest, our back yard.
Over the next few weeks, I kept looking at the sink wondering if the sink would ever make it to a resale store or if it would eventually be moved to the back side of our barn. One day as I walking past the sink I felt a nudge in my spirit to stop and look at it. Really look at it. My immediate thoughts were: Who would really want this sink? It’s old. It’s actually kind of ugly. It’s purpose is gone. As I continued to stand by the sink, my mind started to change and I was reminded that the sink was still usable. All it needed was a good home and to be connected to a water line. It wasn’t too late for the sink… it still had it’s purpose.
Sometimes life can be this way. Sometimes we hear these words:
I am not worthy.
I do not have a purpose.
I am not loved.
I am not forgiven.
But then the light shines on our darkness. The truth is revealed:
I am worthy.
I do have purpose.
I am loved.
I am forgiven.
Jesus came to give sight to the blind.
We see.
