This week’s theme: Deep in the feast: Called to deep living
This week’s Scriptures: Isaiah 25:6-9 | Acts 10:34-43 | 1 Corinthians 15:1-11 | Psalm 118:1-2, 14-24 | John 20:1-18
We have seen the Lord! A rich feast has been prepared for all peoples on the mountain of God. Like Mary, Jesus calls us each by name into abundant life.
What have you and your community felt called to throughout this Lenten season? What kind of “feast” will be saving good news to your hearers? Drink deeply from the prepared table. God will swallow up death forever, wipe away the fears from all faces, and take away the people’s disgrace (Isaiah 25). Jesus, who preaches peace by the Holy Spirit and with power, calls us by name, offering forgiveness of sins through his name (Acts 10). By the grace of God, we are what we are, and God’s grace is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15). We shall not die but we shall live and keep telling all that God has done (Psalm 118). The heart of our Easter preaching rings out from the deepest place within us: “We have seen the Lord!” (John 20:18)
May we receive this news, once again, with a call to deep living. Go into this day, forever changed. Amen.
