Life sometimes poses dangers, threats and barriers that challenge the very fabric of our lives. Imagine our pathways in life are reflected in pages of music. Life sometimes will try to delete, paint over or blot out the notes, sometimes trying to take away your instrument or voice altogether.
In these moments, remember to continue singing your song. Continue constructing beautiful melodies that rise above hatred, break through boundaries and soar above all else to show that this song is you.
Make music with others! See how your song creates interweaving lines with the unique melodies of companions. Revel in the healthy dissonance that comes from exploring relationship and discourse with others.
Throughout life, there are challenges that want to prevent you from living your truest song. In the face of these barriers, sing loudly. Use your voice to sing from the depths of your being what is true and right and just. Dare to imagine your most beautiful, most creative, most expressive tunes. Remember that God’s song soars all around us, and rejoice in the peace of heart and mind that song brings.
Your song is creative, it is unique, and most importantly, it is the essence of you. Sing it loudly and listen to what the songs of others and the song of God might bring.
Scripture: Philippians 4:4-7 (NRSV)
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
