Scripture: James 5:7-10 (NRSV)
Patience is something that everyone struggles with from time to time. I know God has blessed me with being a patient person. When it comes to faith in God I believe it is important to be patient. I believe it is important to be patient because God speaks to us and if we are rushing or we are impatient we miss what God is trying to tell us. Often when we are going through a rough patch, it becomes hard to remain patient, but when we are suffering God is with us. We have to be patient and have faith that God always has a plan, and we have to be patient and believe that God will help us out of this rough patch.
We cannot let impatience run our lives. Impatience is a way to blind us. For me, patience has kept me grounded because I know that once I get past the bumpy road the Lord has a smooth one waiting for me. Yes, sometimes it is hard to keep my patience, but I remember who God is and what he has done for me. Practicing patience helps strengthen my relationship with the Lord. In James 5:8 (NIV) it says “You too, be patient and stand firm because the Lord is coming near.” It’s a good habit to remember that no matter how bad it gets God is with us, and if we are patient God will always help us through it.
Scripture: James 5:7-10 (NRSV)
Be patient, therefore, beloved, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious crop from the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains. 8You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. 9Beloved, do not grumble against one another, so that you may not be judged. See, the Judge is standing at the doors! 10As an example of suffering and patience, beloved, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
