What is your Rock? The essence of this question stems from the inner struggle of learning what you put your trust in.
Show Us the Rock of our Salvation from which comes living water
Remember God’s promise: that from the Rock of our Salvation, Jesus, will come living water for our thirsty souls. Stay hydrated in that knowledge on this year’s journey to the Cross.
Patient Faith
Why is it so difficult for us to blindly trust God? Why is it difficult to have faith like Abraham did?
Assurance of God’s Protection, No Matter What
You are loved, you are kept, you are protected. There is no end to God’s presence.
Show us the extent of your faithful, loving presence
Jesus showed us how to pray. It is a simple and direct way to follow him.
Resisting Temptation Without Hiding
God does not promise us that we will never be tempted by those short term things that sound good, look good or feel good. Even Jesus, a figure fully God and fully human, encountered temptation.
Show us your hiding place in the thick of temptation
This year’s Lenten theme is “Show Us.” I interpret this as asking Jesus to “show us” what it means to live a life faithful to the Christian calling. “Show us” what it means to live lives of compassion and empathy. “Show us” what it means to live out Jesus’ teaching. “Show us” what it means to work for justice for all of God’s people.
2020 Lenten devotions to begin Feb. 26
As the Lenten season begins, Goshen College will again offer and online resource to help believers make time and space in their hearts and minds to reflect during the season of Lent with devotions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
God is here to help us
On this Christmas day, I hope that each of us might feel the love of God intimately and personally.
The Purpose for Praise
God assures us there is a promise of hope, healing and restoration on the other side of the wait, and for that, we praise.
