Goshen College is rooted in the way of Jesus and is affiliated with Mennonite Church USA, a historic Anabaptist peace church. Our expression of faith is not a simple matter of words spoken at appointed times, but of word and deed fitted into the context of the routine of daily life and work. In a community where the intellect is nurtured, it is also important to develop a reflective faith which can be expressed in campus discussion. A respect and appreciation of the Anabaptist-Mennonite faith perspective and practices, and a commitment to the mission, vision, core values and community standards of Goshen College, are important for all teaching and administrative faculty members.

African-American, Non-Hispanic - A U.S. citizen having origins in any of the Black racial groups of Africa.

American Indian or Alaskan Native - A U.S. citizen having origins in any of the original people of North America and who maintains identification through tribal affiliation or community recognition.

Asian or Pacific Islander - A U.S. citizen having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, the Indian Subcontinent or the Pacific Islands. This area includes, for example, China, Japan, Korea, the Philippine Islands and Samoa.

Hispanic - A U.S. citizen of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central or South American or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race.

White, Non-Hispanic - A U.S. citizen having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, North Africa or the Middle East.

Handicapped - “Handicapped” means any person who (1) has a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities, (2) has a record of such impairment, or (3) is regarded as having such an impairment.

Vietnam Era Veteran - Any veteran of the armed services who between Aug. 5, 1964, and May 7, 1975, served on active duty for at least 181 consecutive days or was discharged sooner because of a service-related disability.

I certify that answers given herein, as well as all documents submitted as part of my application, are true and complete to the best of my knowledge. I authorize investigation of all statements contained in this application for employment as may be necessary in arriving at an employment decision. In the event of employment, I understand that false, inaccurate, or misleading information given in my application or interview(s) may result in discharge. I understand, also, that I am required to abide by all rules and regulations of the college.

I understand that the college, through its agents, will conduct an investigative background check on me after making a conditional offer of employment. This will include criminal and sexual offender checks for all positions, and a consumer credit report, motor vehicle record review, and verification of educational attainment for selected positions. I grant to the college and its agents permission to conduct any such investigations. I will have the opportunity to review the results and offer additional information should the background check produce information that calls the offer of employment into question.
