Associate Professor of Nursing
Susan completed her undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1994 and her Master of Science in Nursing degree in 2013. Her professional work quickly shifted away from hospital-based nursing and has centered around the nursing care of people within the community.
Susan is currently completing a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree, with a projected graduation date in the fall of 2023. Her DNP project centers around resilience and mental well-being in the nursing educational setting.
Selected nursing experience includes:
As a community-based nurse, Susan teaches courses that focus on health and nursing outside of institutional care. Highlights of these courses include the well-elder project (Gerontological Nursing) and senior nursing experiences in the school system, with Pokagon Health Services, and in the Elkhart County Correctional Facility, among others (Community Health Nursing).
