My research background is in quantitative research related to The Effects of Coping Skills Training on Asthma Related Outcome Variables Among Teens With Asthma.
Key constructs of research interest include: coping, self-efficacy, and health promotion
Other research interests include an unpublished qualitative study titled, The Experience of Ethnic Identity Formation and Subsequent Caring Practices Among Latino Nursing Student.
- Nurs 309 Healthcare Ethics (Undergraduate)
- Students actively reflect on ethical issues that are present in health care for practitioners and consumers. The focus is on the process of ethical inquiry rather than decision outcomes. In the process of analyzing bioethical issues, students are introduced to ethical theory and modes of ethical analysis informed by the Christian faith. (Syllabus)
Nurs 410 Senior Seminar (Undergraduate. Focus on integration of current professional practice issues. Students articulate own philosophy of health care and nursing including faith beliefs, rights of clients, and responsibility to deliver quality nursing care. Preparation for the NCLEX exam, interviewing, and job search are also included.
- Nurs 510 Healthcare Ethics (Graduate)
- The student is provided with frameworks for ethical decision-making based on theory and opportunities for the development of reflective moral thinking. The student learns to utilize critical thinking as a basis for ethical reasoning. The dynamics of the healthcare professionals’ roles are studied in view of pertinent ethical dilemmas. The student is challenged to examine personal and professional values in the context of growing health care disparities impacting the local and world community. (Syllabus)
