Charles L. Cocanower Jr. and Mable E. Overholt were born and raised in Elkhart, Indiana. Charles attended Goshen College and they married in 1948. They lived in Elkhart until 2000 when they moved to Washington State to be near their daughter where Mable passed away in 2006 and Charles

Charles was vice president of finance at Elkhart General Hospital and Mable was a homemaker.
They were active Gideon’s International and their churches. They were members of both Sunnyside Mennonite Church in Elkhart and North Creek Presbyterian Church in Mill Creek, Washington. In retirement, they enjoyed traveling in their RV and riding their tandem bicycle.
The Cocanowers had planned for Goshen College to receive funds from estate. Their daughter,
