Mount Hermon United States Alumni Scholarship
Mount Hermon School in India was founded in the 19th century by the Methodist Church. It is a kindergarten through grade 12 grade boarding school. The school is located among the tea estates near Darjeeling, India and faces Mt. Kanchenjunga, the third largest mountain in the world. Many American missionary children attended this school until missionary activity in India was reduced after India’s independence from British rule in 1947. The school continues to be operated by the Methodist Church in India and serves students in South Asia.
Over the years, Mount Hermon alums from the United States have collected money for various school related projects. In 1997 the alums decided to establish a fund at Goshen College. This would fund scholarships for students from Mount Hermon and their children, students from Woodstock or Kodia (two other international schools in India) and their children or Indian citizens.
