H. Dale Showalter Nursing Scholarship
Dale Showalter was born and raised on a farm in Mishawaka, Indiana; he was the oldest son of Howard and Neva Showalter. His parents passed away during his teenage years, and Dale being the oldest son, became a very responsible person. It was during those early years he learned the meaning of hard work. He also learned the importance of the dollar and how to carefully plan his spending.
As a teenager he married his high school sweetheart, Shirleyann Schweisberger. They moved into a modest apartment in downtown Mishawaka and started a family. Dale worked hard to provide for his wife and children, Pamela, Jeffrey, Patricia and Paula. All of the hard work and good investments made Dale a self–made entrepreneur. His perseverance made it possible for the Showalter Family to offer this scholarship.
It took many years for Dale to acquire the money he saved and invested. We know that he would have been pleased to know that he has provided the financial help to selective students through the funding of the H. Dale Showalter Nursing Scholarship.
