We met at Goshen College and married the summer of 1968 when Twila (Gingerich) graduated. A year later, as MCC volunteers, we had the opportunity to work in Butwal, Nepal, at Butwal Technical Institute from 1969 to 1972, and again from 1976 to 1979.
After completing medical school, Herman settled in Fort Wayne, Indiana where he established his medical practice. It was there that he met a young student nurse, Helen, who later became his wife.
Christine and Karl Massanari were alums of Goshen College. While both pursued careers in other areas, their love of and passion for performed music characterized their lives.
Frank K. Martin, Chartered Financial Analyst, is the managing partner of Martin Capital Management, an investment management firm located in Elkhart, Indiana. Frank was the founder of McDonald Capital Management, Inc. in 1987 and in 1991, when the firm was reorganized as a partnership, the name was changed to Martin Capital Management.
My grandfather Landis brought his family of 11 children, seven daughters and four sons, from Oregon to Indiana sometime around 1900 so that they could attend Mennonite schools. My mother (Ruth Landis) was the oldest of the daughters and went to Elkhart Institute, where she met my father, who was teaching there.
Having benefited from the generous financial aid Goshen College granted them as international students in the form of tuition waivers, they would like to give something back to this fine institution of higher education in the form of a scholarship for qualified international students.
Ralph and Viva Lugbill have been through many walks of life -- or more appropriately -- many hikes through life's mountains and trails. They met in Denver, Colo., while Ralph was working and attending summer school at the University of Colorado and Viva was a student at La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing.
The Longacre Endowed Scholarship Fund is created to honor ten generations of Longacre relatives in America. The Longacre family graduates and other advocates of Goshen College support the traditions, values and philosophy of the institution as it enters its second century.
As a Goshen College student from Mt. Lake, Minnesota Velma studied organ and piano, graduating in 1975 with a degree in music and music education. She majored in organ with Dr. Phil Clemens and visiting German organist Georges Aubert as her teachers.
As the Earth’s capacity to support our human existence becomes increasingly compromised, the study and embrace of environmental sustainability is ever more important. Cliff and Hope were pleased to endow scholarship at Goshen College that is not restricted to but prioritized for students who focus on sustainability and/or environmental studies.
