Dellis was born in Woodriver, Nebraska, on July 29, 1931. He attended Goshen College, graduating in 1956 with a bachelor’s degree in English education.
He and Nancy placed a high value on caring for the environment and attempted to operate their business by applying as many sustainable business practices as they could. With their gift to Goshen College, they clearly wanted to encourage today’s students to learn and have appreciation for such sustainable business practices.
Alva J. Schlabach was born in 1921 in Thomas, Oklahoma and as a boy during the Great Depression years, moved to Delaware with his family. During World War II he spent time in Civilian Public Service and then moved to Wauseon Ohio as a young man.
George and Gertrude Schiff expressed desire was to share their good fortune with people to help them better themselves and to make this world a better place. Goshen College was chosen to receive a portion of their estate with this in mind.

During their life together, Peter and Mattie Schertz farmed in Central Illinois, between Washburn and Metamora. They were active members of Metamora Mennonite Church and believed strongly in education, even though neither of them was able to finish high school while they were growing up in the early part of the twentieth century.
This fellowship is established in honor of Laura Schafer Martens, aunt of Geraldine Schafer Friesen. Laura graduated with a BA in Home Economics from Goshen College in 1947.
Reuben H. Savanick was a devout Christian, avid supporter of Deaf Ministries, friend of the Deaf community, loving husband and father who died unexpectedly on April 23, 2005 at the age of 53. Reuben grew up in Scottdale, Pennsylvania, the hearing son of Deaf parents who were early leaders in Mennonite Church Deaf Ministries.
Madlyn W. Salter was born on December 19, 1913 in Rochester , Indiana, the daughter of Ort L. Walter and Hazelbell (Hazel) Dutter Walter. Her father was a teacher, principal and later the superintendent of schools in Goshen, Indiana from 1935-42.
