Dr. John M. and LaVonne Kauffman Scholarship Fund
Dr. John M. Kauffman was born in Logan County, Ohio, and attended Goshen College for three years and transferred when the college closed for one year in 1924. He received his A.B. degree from Bluffton College, Bluffton, Oho in 1924.
He received his doctorate at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in 1929. From 1929 until 1936 he maintained a general practice at Goshen, Indiana and then moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where he limited his practice to proctology.
His wife, LaVonne, was a native of Goshen. When Dr. Kauffman retired in 1966, they made their home in Florida. They enjoyed traveling together and maintained their home at Fort Myers and later moved to Bradenton, Florida in 1971.
Dr. and Mrs. Kauffman established several planned giving programs for the ultimate benefit of Goshen College. In June of 1986, Dr. Kauffman passed away and LaVonne passed away in June of 2000. Dr. and Mrs. Kauffman’s interest in Goshen College is evidenced by their generous participation in several types of planned giving programs. The principal amounts in these planned gifts were used to endow scholarships after their deaths.
