Kreider-Burkholder Endowed Scholarship

Carl and Evelyn Kreider established a scholarship fund to assist students to attend Goshen College.

Lloyd and Adelia (Stover) Kreider of Wadsworth, Ohio and Henry and Mary (Seitz) Burkholder of Newville, Pennsylvania, were strong supporters of Goshen College.  Each couple had five children and all attended Goshen College.  Adelia Kreider was a “normal” student at Goshen in 1906-07.  Two of the Kreider sons, one grandson and one granddaughter have served on the faculty and in the administration of the college.  Adelia Kreider died in 1964 and Lloyd Kreider in 1969.  Henry Burkholder was a college teacher for most of his life and one summer taught at Goshen College.  One of the Burkholder sons served both as a faculty member and as president of Goshen College.  One of the Burkholder daughters is the wife of a faculty-administrative member.  A number of Kreider and Burkholder grandchildren are alumni.  Henry Burkholder died in 1938 and Mary Burkholder in 1941.
