At age 50, Jane enrolled at Goshen College for a refresher course entitled "Social Concerns" under the professorship of Dr. Ernest Miller, former president of the college. Jane had a BA degree from the University of Michigan.
He was only 23 years old when he died (April 5, 1965), but he left a legacy of hope, service, family joy, and a host of friends around the world. Leon served in Java in Pax voluntary service for 17 months under the Mennonite Central Committee until he returned to the United States for treatment of the fatal disease of skin cancer.
