The Noah B. and Florence Yoder Student Aid Fund
This fund was established by members of the Noah and Florence Yoder family. Contributions have been made to the Goshen College Endowment Fund and the income is to be used for students who qualify under the scholarship guidelines.
Noah Yoder attended Goshen College just for a short time in 1907. He was in what was then called the Goshen College Academy which was equivalent to high school. Though he attended for less than a year, he always had an interest in Goshen College. He encouraged his oldest son, William, to attend Goshen College. William graduated from Goshen College in 1943. Another son, Gordon, attended Goshen College from 1947 to early 1948. In 1972 Gordon was employed by the college in the college relations office and served the college faithfully for over 30 years.
While Noah and Florence Yoder lived their entire lives in the Mahoning County area of Ohio, their sons were both very interested in other parts of the world. After World War II, William was one of the first North American Mennonites to live and work in Indonesia. Gordon, through his travels and his work at Goshen College, shared his brother’s concern for other places and people around the world. This student aid fund is thus designed to encourage students from Indonesia and/or other countries to attend Goshen College by giving assistance to help with some of their college expenses.
