Instructions to set up your cell phone or office phone extension to receive voice calls with verification codes, or your cell phone to receive SMS text messages
STEP 1: Sign into Okta on a computer
- On a computer, using your web browser, go to https://login.goshen.edu
- Enter in your GC username, and click Next.
- If prompted, provide MFA with a device that you already have set up.
- Enter in your GC password, and click Verify.
- If you already have another MFA method set up with Okta, you will be taken to the Okta Dashboard.
- Click your name in the upper right.
- Click Settings.
- Scroll down to Security Methods.
- Next, go to STEP 2 below.
- If you don’t already have any MFA methods set up with Okta, go to STEP 2 below.
STEP 2: Choose your authentication method
- Click the Set up button for Phone.
- If prompted, provide MFA with a device that you already have set up.
- Click the Set up button.
If you want to receive SMS text verification codes:
- Leave SMS selected if you want to receive an SMS text message to your phone.
- Enter in your phone number, including the area code. eg. (xxx) xxx-xxxx
- Click the Receive a code via SMS button.
- A code will be texted to your phone. Enter in the code that you received.
- Click the Verify button.
- You are all set to receive text messages verification codes when signing into your GC account or GC services.
- The next time you sign in, if you also have push notifications set up but want to instead authenticate with the SMS text message, click the Verify with something else option. And then from the options that appear, click the Select button for “Phone.” And then click on the Receive a code via SMS button.
If you want to receive voice calls with a verification code:
- Change the option to Voice call if you want to receive a voice call to your phone.
- Enter in your phone number, including the area code. eg. (xxx) xxx-xxxx
- Click the Receive a code via voice call button.
- You will receive a phone call telling you your verification code. Enter in the verification code.
- Click the Verify button.
- You are all set to receive voice calls with verification codes when logging into your GC account.
