Merry Lea and Indiana Humanities, an Indianapolis nonprofit, teamed up to host a hike featuring Hoosier poets at Merry Lea’s Farmstead Site on Saturday, July 23. Micah Towery, an English professor from Goshen College provided the input.
The outing was part of “Next Indiana Campfires,” Indiana Humanities’ new series that pairs literature and nature to help Hoosiers explore Indiana’s wild places and discuss conservation. Indiana poems featured included “The Presence of Trees” by Roger Pfingston and a collection of haiku by Etheridge Knight.
Discussion continued over a lunch based on foods grown on the Merry Lea Sustainable Farm.
