About this event

Explore who lives in and around the hidden forest gems called vernal ponds. We will read The Secret Pool by Kimberly Ridley, then go on a short hike to visit one of Merry Lea’s vernal ponds. We will spend time dipping in the water for small creatures that must have vernal ponds to survive. Please prepare yourselves by wearing weather-appropriate clothing like warm, waterproof boots to stay dry and cozy while exploring, discovering and creating along our mud season trails!

What is Tales & Trails?

Children and their caregiver(s) gather for a short story that incites curiosity before exploring different locations around Merry Lea’s property. Expect to hear a tale & hike a trail while discovering the natural wonders around you together. This is a 1.5 hour monthly program designed for children ages 3-5, with younger siblings welcome to join, led by a Merry Lea educator.

Registration is not required for this event series: you’re welcome to drop in without registering. By registering for this program you are signing up for the Tales and Trails monthly email list, which shares details like upcoming program location and more!

*Please note that you do not need to sign up for every Tales & Trails program in the series.
