Noted baritone and Metropolitan Opera singer Michael Todd Simpson will perform a voice recital on Friday, Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Goshen College Music Center's Rieth Recital Hall. Simpson will be accompanied by Christine Larson Seitz, piano.
Kasdorf, associate professor of English and women's studies at Pennsylvania State University, will share some poetry from her recently published book "Poetry in America."
The Manhattan Transfer, a U.S. vocal quartet, will kick off Goshen College's 2011-12 Performing Arts Series with their harmonies on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Center's Sauder Concert Hall.
Award-winning actor and playwright Anna Deavere Smith will present the keynote address,"ÒGlimpses of America in Change," at Goshen College for the Roy H. Umble Master Class and Yoder Public Affairs Lecture, which are combined into one event this year. The address will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 13 in the Music Center's Sauder Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Goshen College President James E. Brenneman opened the new school year by encouraging first-year and continuing students to become "servant leaders" in the local community and the wider world.
