Dave Pottinger, Faye Peterson and their daughter Maija and son-in-law Jeremy Stutsman will host an Afternoon Sabbatical, "The Revitalization of Goshen Downtown," on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. in Goshen College Music Center's Sauder Concert Hall.
Goshen College President James E. Brenneman today sent the following statement to students, faculty and staff: "It is with profound sadness that I inform you of the death this morning of Professor James S. Miller, 58, a professor of biology at Goshen College since 1980.
Grammy Award-winning American folk singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter is coming to Goshen and will take the Music Center's Sauder Concert Hall stage for her Performing Arts Series concert on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m., and there are only a few tickets left.

Democrat Allan Kauffman, the incumbent Goshen mayor, and Republican Don Riegsecker, a Goshen city council member, are the two candidates in the Nov. 8 general election for Goshen's next mayor.
Goshen College Professor Emeritus of Art Abner Hershberger has his 11x26-foot art installation, "Culture Clash" on view at ArtPrize, an international exhibition in Grand Rapids, Mich., from Sept. 21 to Oct. 6. His work is located at DeVos Place Grand Gallery (303 Monroe Ave. NW).
Goshen College Art Faculty have their work on exhibit in the Hershberger Gallery. Faculty in the show include Randy Horst, Kristi Glick, John Mishler, Merrill Krabill and John Blosser. The current work from the artists includes watercolor, drawing, metals, sculpture, prints, and mixed media in a wide variety of styles.
The annual college rankings have hit the presses, and Goshen College was again included by "U.S. News & World Report," "Forbes" and "Washington Monthly" publications on their lists of best U.S. colleges. It was also again named a "College of Distinction."
