Senior Exhibit II – 2013
Reception: Sunday, April 7, 2:00-4:00 pm, Hershberger Gallery.
Seniors Abbie Miller, Ben Adams, Daniel Buschert, Juan Carlos Diaz Quezada, and Sara Soto will present artwork in an exhibit that is the culmination of their studio work at Goshen College.
Abbie Miller is from Wellman, Iowa and is graduating with an art major and women’s studies minor. Her senior show artwork includes drawings that explore the ideas of modern map making, while celebrating the handmade quality of the medium. Her other artistic interests include painting, photography, sewing, embroidery, and museum work.
Ben Adams, originally from Lancaster, PA, now living in Madison, WI, is focusing on jewelry and sculpture. As a senior art major and environmental science minor, his work uses abstract shapes to express his interpretation of the natural world.
Sara Soto is an Art major from California. She is married and mother of a four year old. She focuses mainly in graphic design and two dimensional artwork including painting and illustration. For her senior show she will be creating a children’s book. Next year she will be pursuing her interest in coaching as an assistant coach of Goshen College women’s soccer program.
Daniel Buschert is a Senior Art major from Goshen, IN. He enjoys working with different media, but for this show will work with acrylic painting on flat pieces of plexiglass. Specifically, he is exploring taking photos, including panoramic images, and painting them on clear plexiglass, making use of both sides of the surface, and multiple panels. He enjoys involving perspective and line, often with architecture, and works towards images that are realistic but also stylized.
Juan Carlos Diaz Quezada is an Art major from Matancillas, Jalisco, Mexico. His medium of expertise is Ceramics, but will also be working with acrylic painting. He enjoys creating art that has an impact on the audience due to visual qualities and content. His paintings and ceramic sculptures question the role between humans and animals. He plans to take a year off after Goshen College to explore the arts and see if he will pursue a Masters in Architecture or Fine Art.
