C. Henry Smith the topic of namesake peace lecture
Perry Bush, professor of history at Bluffton (Ohio) University, will present the 2015 C. Henry Smith Peace Lecture on Tuesday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Goshen College Administration Building Room 28. Bechtel will speak on “The Professor as Peacemaker: C. Henry Smith and the Mennonite Intellectual Tradition, 1920-1948.”
Peace Farm: A new experiment in Christian discipleship
Krista and Tim Showalter Ehst, both 2008 GC grads, have begun Peace Farm, a new voluntary service program born out of a collaborative effort between Quakers and Mennonites in Pennsylvania. This six-month apprenticeship brings together the practical work of farming and an exploration of connections between peace, food justice and faith.

Conference on Religion and Science to examine ideas of ‘personhood’
Goshen College’s 14th annual Conference on Science and Religion will be held March 20-22 and will feature speaker Wentzel van Huyssteen, professor of theology and science at Princeton Theological Seminary.
GC Opera Scenes contrast classic operas and modern musical theater
Goshen College student vocalists will present scenes from operas and musicals in two Goshen College Opera Workshop performances on Friday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 14, at 4 p.m. Both performances will take place in the Goshen College Music Center’s Rieth Recital Hall.
March 10 Afternoon Sabbatical to look at ‘creating a legacy’
Jep Hostetler, a retired medical educator, humorist and magician, and Glen Miller, a retired medical doctor, administrator and author, will discuss ways to create a legacy through an intentional process of living during the Afternoon Sabbatical series on Tuesday, March 10, at 1 p.m. in the Goshen College Music Center’s Sauder Concert Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Dale Hess, professor of agroecology, passes away
Dale Hess, associate professor of agroecology and ecological field station director at Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center of Goshen College, died on Sunday, March 1, in his home after a three-year battle with cancer. He was 60 years old.
Exhibit presents artifacts from six Anabaptist collections
A new exhibit, “Collections in the Collection: Mennonite, Amish, Hutterite,” will open at Goshen College with a public reception in the Library Gallery on March 15 from 3-5 p.m. The exhibit will continue through July 30, 2015.
