New partnership expected to benefit community

Goshen Health and Goshen College recently entered into a partnership to pair the next generation of public health leaders with learning projects that will positively impact the health of the community.

These projects engage students in solving problems related to improving access to health care,
increasing patient satisfaction, assessing community health needs and reducing obesity.

“We are excited about this new opportunity with Goshen College because it gives students a voice in having an impact on our community,” said Randy Christophel, Goshen Health president and CEO. “Students provide a unique perspective that we can learn from to better meet the needs of our diverse community.”

“Students learn best by doing. This partnership provides students with a supportive environment to test their knowledge and skills. Many of our students are from this area and hope to stay here after graduating so would continue to serve people in Elkhart County,” said Brianne Brenneman, assistant professor of public health at Goshen College.

Twelve students are participating in the program and will complete their projects in April.
